Projects Mozambique

Sun Biofuels has been granted title to five former tobacco farms in the Manica province of Mozambique. One thousand hectares of this land has already been successfully planted with Jatropha Curcas. A further two thousand hectares are currently being prepared for planting and it is anticipated that this further area of land will be planted in 2009. Approximately five hundred people from the local communities are already employed by the project.

Current research and development trials in process at the project site include:

  • Germplasm program initiated with 96 accessions collected worldwide
  • Fertilizer trials
  • Irrigation and intercropping trials

The Sun Biofuels team are continuing to seek out land opportunities within the country.

First Biofuels production planned for 2010.
